Experimental Research on Collapsibility of Xi’an Loess Improved by Calcium Lignosulfonate

To improve the problem of collapsibility loess, adding industrial materials such as cement is common engineering treatment, but this seriously damages reclamation performance soil. Calcium lignosulfonate (CLS) from paper plant waste fluids a natural bio-based polymer with good application prospects soil improver. In paper, and mechanical properties CLS improved loess were investigated using test, gray correlation analysis, an unconfined compressive strength test (UCS). addition, strengthening mechanism CLS-improved was also explored based on scanning electron microscopy (SEM), microstructure parameters, X-ray diffraction. The coefficient decreased rapidly after admixed, single double-oedometer methods showed same change trend. order grey degree each index large to small was: moisture content, pore ratio, dry density, content. dosage greatly influenced stabilized loess. optimum amount for Xi’an 3%, at which reduced by more than 95%, 28 d UCS increased 180.01%. From mineral composition analysis perspective, plays role in filling pores linking particles. After protonation ion exchange effect CLS, grain size double electric layer thickness reduced, structural compactness increased. These research results are great scientific significance ecological modification soils.
